Selfless Love

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourself.:  Philippians 2:3-4

Vittles for Vets was honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of such humility this past weekend as we participated in a benefit memorial motorcycle run to honor Mr. Paul “Peppy” Platt, fulfilling his final wish.

Paul, an Air Force veteran, Vittles for Vets volunteer, and member of the Augusta County Bikers, requested his “biker brothers and sisters” to honor his memory by paying tribute at selected stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway

Crazy Hat Day

During the pandemic, St. John Neumann Academy 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Nikki Gibson, had a brilliant idea on how the students could honor Veterans, and instill the true meaning of empathy and giving to those who have so little. Mrs. Gibson created a fun and interesting fundraising event, encouraging all the children of the school to wear goofy and outrageous hats, on one specific day only, to raise much needed funding for the Vittles for Vets Charity and Crazy Hat Day was born!

That was in 2021 and, to our delight,

Belmont II Ruritan Club Dinner

On September 21, Director of Operations January Gerow joined the members of the Belmont II Ruritan Club for dinner and the opportunity to speak about benefits the Vittles for Vets program provides, and the plight of the at-risk Veterans in our community. Spearheaded by cadet Samuel Swift, “OSCAR” Co, 4th Battalion, with the assistance of several of his mates, after obtaining all required

Vittles for Vets held a motorcycle fund raising event

Vittles for Vets held a motorcycle fund raising event on Saturday, October 8, 2022, raising funds for the underprivileged children of our impoverished veterans enrolled in the Vittles program.  Although the day was sunny it was a bit chilly.  Alas the cold weather did not deter these wonderful bikers from coming out in support of our veteran’s children raising $1250.00 to insure them an unforgettable Christmas.

A large debt of gratitude is due Alex Barker for putting this great event together.  A great job from a man who has done much
